Homigot means “Tiger’s Tail” and is the place for first sun rise of each year in Korea. Homigot lies in the eastern part of Korean peninsula. The shape of Korean peninsula is imagined to be tiger and as the Homigot looks like tail of tiger. Hence it gets this name “Homigot” and is located to the east of Pohang. In Homigot sunrise square you can spot the structure of “Hands of Harmony”.  These two bronze hands are constructed in 1999.

Here the left hand rise from land and the right hand rise from the ocean. These hands act as a signature symbol of sunrise festival. These bronze hands deliver the message of unity and coexistence between Koreans. During April and May, yellow and golden garden at the entrance of the Homigot sunrise square get blooming. Homigot Sunrise Square is so cool because it surrounds with water. This massive hand makes this a best place to take photo.

There are lot of cafes and restaurants near this Homigot Sunrise Square. Lot of people crowded in this Homigot Sunrise square to watch the sunrise festival every year. From Homigot, you can also take a visit to nearby attractions like Homigot Lighthouse, Lighthouse Museum, Korea’s largest lighthouse, Monument to Commemorate Lee Yuk-sa’s (Korean Poet) Patriotism and Daebo Seawater Bath.

Homigot Tourism Complex is the largest in the eastern coast containing Aquarium, Ecological Park, Training facilities, beach dome, accommodation facilities and other commercial stores as well.
