Bullfighting was a traditional game continuing for years which give pride to Fujairah. Bullfighting in Fujairah does not provide any price for winners but they will get the bragging rights for owning the strongest bull. Bullfighting was held in Fujairah Corniche on every day Friday afternoon. Most of the viewers of this game are Emirati and UAE residents who come to watch their 60 years old Bedouin tradition game.
Bullfighting is conducted just for entertainment. Visitors are honourably welcomed to watch the Fujairah’s unique live game show without fee. This game conducted on large open space filled with soil and covered by fence. By considering safety in mind, spectator areas are allotted at large distance. During bullfighting there is no blood as like in. It is just like bull-wrestling or head-butting (targeted strike with the head).
Here two bulls lock horns and struggle for up to 3 to 4 minutes to expose its strength. The weaker one will give up and run away so there is no blood. The bull, which forces the opponent to back down, is declared the winner. If both of them do not get back away, it results in draw. During fight the announcer will give timing comments.
There are panel of judges, who check the bull’s breed, weight and pedigree to set the pairings. The breeder of the winning bull takes home the bragging rights of owing the strongest bull in Fujairah. The motive of the game is No Money, No Blood but only Honour.
Viewers can enjoy the game both from the allotted area at safe distance as well as from the car parked area. This traditional game will attracts lot of spectators from across the region.
