Khao Sok National Park is highly protected area which covers 646 sq km that includes Kaeng Krung and Phang Nga national parks and Khlong Nakha (Nature preserve in Na Kha, Thailand) and Khlong Saen (Canal in Thailand) wildlife sanctuaries. Khao Sok or Khaosok has been known as the most excellent National Park on the planet and this is no inert gloat. The UNESCO World Heritage status granted to Guilin has likewise been presented on Vietnam’s Halong Bay (emerald waters) and Thailand’s Phang Nga Bay (Bay in Thailand) for much similar reasons. Across 4000 sq km between them they look like massive protected area nothing but lakes, rivers and jungle. Due to its hard, mountainous and open land the parks is mostly untouched by people.
Now Khao Sok is full of plant and wildlife. You a see Wild elephants, leopards (Panthera pardus), snakes, a range of monkeys including dusky langurs (Primate), and over 180 species of bird inhabit the park. Khao Sok trip never complete without visiting the famous lake called Cheow Lan Lake (Lake in Thailand). This is also known as Ratchaprapha Dam Reservoir (Guilin of Thailand). This is an artificial lake for just 30 years. The lake is made for power generation, flood control land irrigation and for fish. The lake is the huge part of Khao Sok National Park, but the entrance can be reached after an hour drive 50kilometer from Khao Sok city. It takes few days to explore the park as it has plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls, caves and viewpoint. The lake is most beautiful freshwater, which features limestone karst cliffs (layers of soluble bedrock) that rise noticeably from calm, perfect emerald water.
Entrance fees:
The entry charges are 300 Baht for grown-ups and 150 Baht for youngsters. Thai residents pay 40 Baht for grown-ups and 20 Baht for kids. The extra charge is substantial for various days just whenever remained inside the park, either when outdoors or remaining at pontoon houses in the lake.
The park is open from 8 am to 6 pm day by day and lasting through the year. It is conceivable to enter the recreation center at night with a guide for a night safari.
