This Grand Mosque is situated at the center of the city, that is also known as to as Al-Masjid Al-Kabir. This is the biggest mosque in Kuwait. This is a wonderful model of Islamic architecture style. Many celebration and religious ceremonies will take place here. The total area of the mosque is about 46,000 sq meters.
The plan of thins mosque is started at 1979 and it is completed after seven years 1986, the total cost is about KD 14 million. Many engineers and builders have put lot of effort to build this mosque. This mosque is well famous for its prayer arrangement during last 10 days of Ramadan. Many numbers of devotees will assemble during that time for prayer.
You will be hypnotized when the section by the blue and gold blend, the Andulasian style designed tiles and fancy calligraphy. The vault of the mosque is 26 meters in width and 43 meters tallness. IT is decked with Asma al-Husna, the 99 names of God, as portray by Quran. Guests are permitted to spruce up with baggy garments.
The mosque can occupy up to 10,000 men in a prayer hall also nearly 950 women in separate hall for ladies. It also has Islamic reference books and documents in a area of 350 sq meter. Also it provides 5 level car parking for visitor’s vehicle to be parked, which can hold nearly 550 cars.
