Royal Regalia Museum in Bandar Seri Begawan was the best place for history lovers, where they can learn about the history of Brunei Sultan’s from ancient time to till today. Formerly, this museum was called as “Churchill‘s Memorial Building”. It was opened as “Royal Regalia Exhibition Hall” on 30 September 1992 to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty 29 Sultan of Brunei. It gets the name of “Royal Regalia Museum” to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty.
The museum mainly features the emblem of the Sultan and the royalty. It also contains exhibits related to the Silver and Golden Jubilee celebrations of Hassanal Bolkiah’s (29th and current Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei).
Royal Regalia Museum is a dome structure decorated with marbles on the interior. It mainly talks about the history, lifestyle and education of Sultan of Bruneian. All the monuments in Royal Regalia Museum belong to the Sultan of Brunei. Ground floor of this museum houses huge chariot that was used during the sultan’s coronation in 1968 and Queen’s visit to Brunei in 1972. The main hall includes a stunning gold plated chariot with uniformed mannequins which were used in silver jubilee street parade in 1992. Exhibits include artifacts which are used for royal ceremonies like silver and golden jubilee in the country, crowns adorned with expensive jewels, flags, weapons and ceremonial costumes. The Constitutional Gallery has collection of documents and international agreements.
Walking through the museum, you can admire of the colorful pictures of the sultan and his family where you can see some texts which describe their life. Over twenty different countries military honors and decorations in this museum represent the Sultan’s military powers. Royal Regalia Museum is adorned with luxurious carpets and splendid marbles which are all exported from other countries.
