Chiang Rai City stays a sleepy common town with a wonderful environment. Contrasted with its neighbor town Chiang Mai, it has a more relaxed and practical feel yet is never short on chronicled and social attractions of its own. The city is bit by bit building up its vacationer part, starting with its own Night market, Saturday Walking Road and Jazz carnival. The waterside remains generally undeveloped, though with a couple of luxury lodgings along the waterfront.
Chiang Rai city has a variety of interest; it is a small city with very relaxed atmosphere great local food, and good accommodation. The western mountain is home for tribes also with wild spot, however today it is well known place for trekking, royal projects, and tea and coffee plantations in place of opium. One of the must visit place in Chaing rai is very famous White Temple (privately owned art exhibit in the style of a Buddhist temple). It is an ideal design of modern and classic style.
This is greatly recommended for the visitors those who actually consider themselves ‘temped-out’ on their trip to Thailand. This White Temple is created by Thai artist, Chalermchai Khositpipat (Thai visual artist). They aimed to make this temple world famous art, and he wants visitors to come from all around the world.
So Chalermchai Khositpipat decided to build a temple with a theme of heaven with shiny white for the Lord Buddha’s purity and the glass reflecting his knowledge shining over the earth and the universe. Before reaching the temple, you have to cross a small bridge, that crossing represents the cycle of life to the land Buddha.
